UKA UKA is the work of 7spellz, the brilliant renaissance man responsible for producing, engineering, and performing the track.
It’s a manic piece split into two parts. We begin with a hazy and bouncy intro; then the beat switches and the bounce continues, with braggadocious lyrics to match the confident swagger of the beat. The instrumentation is intricately crafted and mixed, with Spellz panning sounds back and forth to build a soundscape that is unique to him. He raps in a higher pitch that is equal parts infectious and infantile. At a minute and fifty seconds, it’ll make you want to leave the song on repeat.
7spellz is singular in his sound, and the fact that he’s only 19 leaves me baffled and excited to bear witness to the young man’s evolution as an artist. If he’s this damn good now, God only knows how great he’ll become.
