Few artists enter the scene with complete command of their craft and voice, which only makes it more exciting and exhilarating when one does.
Amaria Mcgee is a breath of fresh air. The 19 year-old Tampa native, whose roots are in Neo-Soul, is an extremely gifted songstress with a sultry, ethereal voice over mellow production. She released two excellent self-produced singles to kick off 2020 — “Waiting” and “Morning." Her easy, breezy lo-fi sound is the perfect encapsulation of a sunny Florida day. Her third, and most recent release of “Twilight,” is superb.
Amaria’s delicate and spacey vocals, reminiscent of Kadhja Bonet and Snoh Aalegra, float over gorgeous, glittering arpeggiated synthesizers produced and curated by the brilliant K, Le Maestro, who made the beat in Berlin while staying at an AirBnb last August.
Amaria ended up linking with the London-born producer after a friend tagged him in a video on her page. The rest is history.
This is indeed the making of a star, which makes for an apt title in “Twilight.”
“Yeah, you’re shining so bright. You could be my twilight.”
