After a slew of singles, features, and videos, DroGotDoe continues to dominate the scene, this time he’s bringing some friends along for a compilation EP “Dro & Friends 2”. The project kicks off with the spacey “ON THAT” featuring OK Tav. The beat was provided by B.Miller, 7spellz, and Kushh Newton. This shit sounds like it was straight out of a 90s mall. Great way to start off the project and one of my favorite joints from Dro. “Touchdown” featuring Sixteen727 and produced by 7spellz keeps Dro on his spaced out shit. Really dope sample choice by 7spellz. The hook by Dro gives some bounce to the track, giving off a little bit of that strip club vibe. Next up is one of my favorite tracks of the year. This 3 headed dragon track “ITAINTGONWORK!” Featuring YZM, Richie Guapo, and produced by Kushh Newton is a straight banger. Guapo kills the hook and verse as always, shouting out to the Gravemix. YZM’s flow and word play was crazy. That Ratchet and Clank line has been stuck in my head since I first heard it. Dro’s energy is unmatched in the game at this point. Kushh Newton provides spaced out Trill production that brings it all together. Track of the year contender for sure.
“Warrior” featuring OK.Tav and Zizi Lakeboy is on some more melodic shit. This one shows Dro’s versatility starting with a softer hook and then hitting everyone over the head with his verse. Hands down one of my favorite hooks Dro has done so far. Richboydior nailed the vibes with the atmospheric production. “Coolin” with Deezy Wee The Reaper is on some smoked out shit. The addition of Deezy on the tracks gives it a laid back vibe, like we are just smoking in the grave with Dro and Deezy. Kushh Newton once again does his thing, crafting a smokey soundscape.
“4Door” featuring Deezy Wee The Reaper & E.$krilla adds a more playful vibe to the project. You can tell everyone is just having fun spitting over the beat. This is one of them joints you can play at all the functions. Free $krilla! The beat on “ALLOFTHISMONEY” could possibly be my favorite joint from Kushh Newton to date. It’s Trill af and mad hard hitting. Really dig the posse cut vibe of this track with Dro providing the hook and letting all the homies get their verse in. Notsew, Ok Tav, Zizi Lakeboy and Pando all did their thing.
The vibe on “Mistakes” is like something I haven’t heard from Dro. The darker melodic vibe with production provided by Jewfy puts Dro in a different space. This joint sounds like a Dro and the homies are throwing a party in a vampire's mansion. The hook on this one definitely sets the tone for the upcoming verses. “4RealOnes” is a straight banger. Everyone rips this track with insane flows and even doper lyrics. Notsew is becoming one of my favorite artists out of the 813 and anytime he and Dro get together it’s a banger. Vye One The Singer adds a haunting vibe to the track with his melodic verse and hook. Was nice to hear 7Spellz on the other side of the board for this one.
“Ziplock” featuring Lethal.kk has that swangey ride around vibe due to the production from Key Kartel & B.Miller. I would definitely like to see a video for this track. The way Lethal and Dro go back and forth on the track fits the beat to a tee. “GoldOnMyBitch” has Dro & Friends on some triumph shit. Bye One The Singer comes through and delivers an anthem-like hook for this banger. Love the energy Dro brought to this one. Kaygee The Weirdo and Zizi Lakeboy did their thing on the track, adding their own vibe to the moody track.
This is one of my favorite projects of the year. The vast amount of styles and sounds is what really makes this album dope. It for sure put me on to some of the other artists that call the 813 home. With his solo album on the way as well as his collab project “Take Da Globe” dropping soon.
