SMOKEY
“I get mine all over the map.”

Outside World Ent’s rookie of the year Landkiss shows her staying power musically on her debut project “Smokey”, featuring production from the Tampa Scenes top producers, Key Kartel, Dinero Tarantino, Fettisuo, Ay08, and Richie Guapo. The project starts off with “The Sandlot”. Great introduction to the vibe Landkiss is bringing. The beat and tone of the track have a late 90s Timbaland and Missy Elliot vibe. Landkiss’s voice is a bit softer sounding than a lot of other female emcees but that’s what sets her apart from the rest. Would love to see some visuals for this joint.
Whenever Key Kartel is on the beat you know it’s a banger. “Open Book” hits you like a smack in the face. It was a dope juxtaposition having Landkiss’s softer voice over the head knocking production. The hook will be stuck in your head all day. Definitely can’t wait to see this joint live. Dinero Tarantino is one of my favorite producers on both sides of the bay. The Key Kartel member laced up a banger for Landkiss and Lil Page to float over on “Salad”. That wonky noise that kicks off the beat and plays throughout the song was my favorite touch on the beat. Besides all the singles this joint might be my favorite street anthem on the project. “Bitch! Do a barrel roll”.
“Tricky” fits Landkiss so well. If “Pink Wax” showed that Landkiss could make a dope track, then “Tricky” proved she could make a street single all on her own. She is definitely talking that talk on this one. Would like to see a remix of this joint down the road. “MIA (interlude)” is perfect right after “Tricky”. Interludes are sort of a lost art so whenever artists incorporate interludes it’s a nice touch. The chick that’s leaving the voicemail might be the one Landkiss is talking about on “Tricky”.
My favorite track on the album is “Jessica Rabbit”. The homie AY08 snapped with that “Summer Nights” sample on the beat. This track is just a vibe. I could see Landkiss performing this one in a late night jazz club style of setting. “Kickdoor” sounds like it could be in an old school fighting game like “Tekken”. Suo spazzed on the production, it’s hard hitting yet complex. Fellow Outside World member Three D Swayze was the perfect choice to feature. I dig how his energy can go from 0-100 in a second. I would say this is going to be one of those deep cuts off the album for fans.
This is the remix. “Pink Wax” is just one of them ones. With a rare verse from Michaela Paladio and a grimy verse from 813DNA, it’s a toss up whether the remix is better than the OG, but despite no Guapo verse on this one the beat is still banging. The project ends out on “Sex and the City”. The hook on this track is what makes it for me. You can just ride slow in your whip and vibe out to this one. Really solid project from Landkiss.
Between NightAir, her photography, and now music, Landkiss has proven that she is definitely a triple threat. Over the past few years it seems like every release out Outside World Entertainment is a banger. If “Smokey” is any indication how they are coming in 2022, we are definitely in for a treat.
