Tayism released his debut single, “Easy to Love” over the holiday season, and it’s a striking, subdued debut for the pop star-to-be. Tay is accompanied by an acoustic guitar leaving space for his voice as an instrument to shine in its own right. The background vocals tip toe around his main take, and in a world so focused on flash and facade, the minimalism cuts as deep as one would expect a more elaborate arrangement to do. The restraint in his vocal delivery is a beautiful juxtaposition from the direct and to-the-point message behind the lyrics. “I gave up all of the best parts of me, trying to fit into your mold. I thought the grass would be much greener, just because you shine, it doesn’t make you gold.”
